Our
Story

The L-Train Memorial Foundation Corporation was born from a daughter's love and a community's lasting memory. We were established in 2014 to honor the extraordinary legacy of Lorne William Bennett, a man whose life was a testament to unwavering dedication and profound impact and became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2015.

Lorne was more than just a resident of his community; he was its heart and soul. An advocate, mentor, coach, and father figure, he poured his energy into nurturing the potential of the young people around him. His vision was simple yet powerful: to empower children to thrive, both academically and athletically.

His instrumental role in the development and establishment of the AAU Union Panthers Basketball League, his leadership as Director and coach for the Union Rams Football Club, and his active support of the Boys and Girls Club are just a few examples of his tireless commitment. Lorne’s life revolved around cultivating the lives of his community’s youth, leaving an indelible mark on those he guided.

Created by his daughter, Trevena Bennett, the L-Train Memorial Foundation is dedicated to keeping Lorne’s vision alive. We strive to provide opportunities and resources that enable young people to excel in their academic and athletic pursuits, ensuring that his legacy of empowerment continues to inspire generations to come.

We believe in the power of mentorship, the importance of community, and the transformative impact of sports and education. Just as Lorne did, we are committed to fostering growth, building confidence, and creating pathways to success for the young people we serve. Join us in honoring his memory and supporting the dreams of our community's future leaders.
