The L-Train Memorial Fund provides scholarships and other needs for college-bound children throughout New Jersey.  This fund was established in memory of Lorne William Bennett who was an advocate, mentor, coach, and father figure to the children in the community which he resided.  

 

Listed below are the qualifications needed to apply:

1. The applicant must be a resident of New Jersey and have participated in at least two full high school sports seasons within four years( this can include being a manager or statistician).

2. The applicant should major in the following disciplines: sports medicine, exercise science, sports management, sports psychology, sports nutrition, sports communication, exercise physiology, sports marketing or sports law AND/OR the applicant can be a STEM graduate who plans to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering or math.

3. The senior student must have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA (an official transcript must be attached).

4. The applicant must provide two references: one from a Guidance Counselor and another from a Coach or Mentor.

5. The applicant must attend college or technical school the semester following his/her high school graduation.

6. The applicant must provide a typed essay defining his/her educational interests and future aspirations (500-1000 words).
